Class Card - January 2015

This is the class card we did this month for Nina Crafts, I used the project club stamps set from December and the complimentary stamp this month is a firework burst, I used it for the background on the base card and on the flowers, it's a lovely stamp, it's just a pity you can't see it very well on this photo.

Bit of knitting

This is the jumper I did for Dale for Christmas as he and my daughter Hanni were in New Zealand he didn't get it until the beginning of this month.  He likes it even more now because of all this snow lol.  I used a pattern from Stylecraft and used the recommended Aran yarn and in the same colour as the pattern, it knits lovely, in fact I bought another couple of balls and made a snood for Hanni in the same colour, I'll post a photo of that shortly.
Dale was a little embarrassed about posing for this photo so I chopped his head off lol.

Drawer Unit

I just love this drawer unit from Stamps Away, it's the MDF Mini Drawer Unit, I actually bought two of them and I haven't finished the other one yet.  This one I decorated for my daughter Hanni for Christmas, but as she was in New Zealand over the Christmas holiday's she didn't get it until earlier this month.  I used the Tim Holtz papers, they are my favourite set of papers, love the colours, it's from the Idea-ology - Shabby Chic pad.  I cut two sheets into 2 - 3cm pieces and used mod podge to attach them to the unit.  Once dry I used a craft knife to shape all the edges and the hearts.

Project Club - January 2015 ¤ Main Card ¤

The set this month comprises of three sentiments, one heart cluster, one bride heart, one tiara, one groom heart and one top hat.  This is the main card for this months project club over at Nina Crafts.
Materials Required
Project Club Stamps and Card Kit
Acrylic Block
VersaMark Stamp Pad
VersaFine – Onyx Black Ink Pad (optional)
Silver Embossing Powder
Anti-Static Pad
Corner punch
Foam Tape or Pads
Double Sided Tape
PVA Glue
Low Tack Tape or Sticky Notes (optional)

I used the VersaFine - Onyx Black ink on this card, I find that I get a chrome colour finish when it has been heat embossed with the silver powder.  I found it gave me a better line on the gray card.  Try using different inks with your coloured embossing powders, you can get some really good effects.

Using the largest piece of white card, cut it so it measures 20.2cm x 14cm.  Using this piece of card and your scoreboard, score a line along the 20.2cm edge at 2cm on the top and bottom sections.  The scored line should be raised on the front of the card.  Use the anti-static bag on this card.  Using the little heart cluster stamp, stamp along the bottom score line adding the embossing powder as you go.  If you can't see the scored line properly use a little of the low tack tape (remember to de-tack it before applying to your card) or a sticky note placed along the line.  Heat emboss this line of hearts.
There are three different text stamps, select the two you want and stamp one in the top section of the card and the other on the bottom section as in the picture.  Add the silver embossing powder and heat emboss each sentiment.
Round the corners of this piece of card and using double sided tape attach it to the base card.  Round the corners of the base card.
Use the anti-static bag on the white pearlescent and the peach coloured card.  Stamp the bride heart onto each piece of card.  If the peach card is too much for you, you can use the plain white card that's in your kit instead and colour the skin section in.  Add the silver embossing powder and heat emboss the hearts.
Use the anti-static bag on the gray pearlescent and the white card.  Stamp the groom heart onto each piece of card.  Add the silver embossing powder and heat emboss the hearts.
Cut out the bride peach heart, cut out the bride white pearlescent heart, cutting off the skin section leaving the dress.  Cut out the groom white heart, cut out the gray pearlescent heart removing the shirt section from this heart.
Use the PVA glue and attach the dress to the peach heart.  Use PVA glue to attach the jacket and tie to the white heart.  Use foam tape or pads to attach the hearts to the card front.
Remove all the waste bits from the die cut bell.  The bell can be attached to the card as is or you can use some of the waste card from the hearts for the background on them.
I used the peach card.  Use little dabs of PVA on the back of the bells and stick to the required card, once dry cut out around the bell.  Attach to the card front with PVA glue or foam pads.
To finish add the gems to the bottom left hand corner.
That's it for this month's project club, hope you enjoy your stamps J

Project Club - January 2015 ¤ Civil Partnership ¤

Nina Crafts project club.

I thought a bit of paper piecing work on these hearts, nice open spaces.  I got the papers from a Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection pad called Mono Paper Pack, these papers are really my favourite range, lots of designs and colours.  I used a Spellbinders - Labels Twenty-Nine die to cut out the shape for the topper in white card.  I stamped the first heart using some VersaFine - Onyx Black and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then used some sticky notes to make a mask of the heart and once cut out covered up the already stamped heart so I could stamp the other, while doing this one I had to add a little more pressure to the stamp and stash plate because of the embossing, I didn't want any missing lines between the hearts.  Once stamped I removed the sticky note and added the clear embossing powder.  I coloured the bow ties on the white hearts with ProMarkers and used some clear drying PVA to attach the cut out the jacket fronts from the patterned papers.  I used the ProMarker to add some shading around the lapel area of each jacket.  I used some of the silver gray paper from the pad for the matt of both the topper and the sentiment, rounding the corners with a Corner Chomper.  The finish I used some gems from Meiflower.

Project Club - January 2015 ¤ Green Stepper ¤

Nina Crafts project club.

For this card I used my Stepper Card die from Crafts Too and the Spellbinders - Romantic Rectangles die shape fits really well on the front of it, just a little overhang on the sides, but it's not much.  I used some green card for the base and some green pearlescent for the matting, now I'm not really a green person but I'm finding myself doing more and more of them, what's going on here then lol.  I used the heart cluster stamp on the border pieces, I used VersaMark and white embossing powder.  The hearts were stamped using Memento - Tuxedo Black, first I stamped the bride then masked this heart and them stamped the groom.  I coloured them in using ProMarkers but it looked a little flat so I stamped another bride and once cut out and coloured I attached to the card front with foam tape, adding some black gems to the front of the dress.  I used the green ProMarker and added a little bit of colour to the flower corners on the rectangle shape.

Project Club - January 2015 ¤ Top Hats ¤

Nina Crafts project club.

I wanted to show you don't have to use the top hats just for the men, they work just as well for the ladies.  I stamped two of the hats onto some white card using VersaFine - Onyx Black and then heat embossed using some detail clear embossing powder.  I did the same onto some pink lace paper from my stash and cut out the band around the hat, then stuck it onto one of the white hats.  Because the paper is a bit thin I stuck the cut out lace hat on top of the other white hat.  I had a look though my die cut leftovers, these are some bits and pieces I have cut out using some of my cutting dies and not used on other projects.  I found a mannequin in brown, it's one of the Tonic dies, so I cut off the base section and coloured it dark grey to use as a hat stand.  I used some linen pale pink card for the matt, the Spellbinders - Classic Scalloped Heart and the matt on the sentiment.  I embossed some white card using an Embossalicious flower folder for the background, I also used the same folder for the Spellbinders - Classic Heart die I used for the topper.  I attached the heart topper with some foam tape, the hat stand with some clear drying PVA glue, I also used the PVA for the pink hat but used some foam pads for the white hat.  The sentiment was stamped using the VersaFine and heat embossed with the clear powder onto some white card, I also added the little heart cluster along the border under the sentiment, this I stamped using Memento - Angel Pink ink.  Once I'd cut out the sentiment it looked a little flat so I cut the section under the heart swirl away leaving the wavy line, this I think made the little hearts stand out a bit more.  I used two layers of foam pads in the middle of the sentiment and just the one layer on both the outside edges, giving a raised middle.

Project Club - January 2015 ¤ 21 Today ¤

Nina Crafts project club.

I have seen some T-Shirts with the tuxedo front on them and this popped into my head when doing this card.  I stamped the heart onto some white card, I like to use a 250gsm super smooth card, it is very easy to get some good colours from my ProMarkers.  For the sentiment I used the Lowercase Kissing Alphabet and for the numbers I used the Kissing Numbers, I stamped the outline stamps in Memento - Tuxedo Black and used the Memento - Danube Blue for the solid stamping.  Once I'd coloured everything in the numbers and letters needed to stand out a little more, I think because the colour is quite dark so I lost some of the black outline.  I used a Memento - Tuxedo Black pen and went over all the outlines again and this made them just pop.  I had a little bit of coloured card left over from making the sentiment so cut out the corner you can see in the picture.  I matted each of the pieces onto some black matt shine card, I also used it for the border in the middle of the card, just to carry the theme on.  The background papers are from my stash, I think they are from a Docrafts Papermania paper pad.

Project Club - January 2015 ¤ Happy Birthday Bunting ¤

Nina Crafts project club.

I was thinking that bunting could be used for anyone so I made this one for the boys as well.  I stamped onto some white card using Memento - Tuxedo Black and used my grey shades of ProMarkers to colour in.  For this bunting I used the Uppercase Kissing Alphabet to add the capital letters and the Lowercase Kissing Alphabet for the rest of the text.  I used the Spellbinders - Classic Heart dies to cut out the grey pearlescent hearts, some white 3mm ribbon to hang the hearts on.  Again using my Crop-A-Dile to add the holes at each side and the little strips of red hi-tack tape to the back of each so the hearts didn't move about.  Once everything was finished I used some Glossy Accents over each of the letters and left flat to dry.  I really liked the finish of these letters, my sister thought I'd used sticky backed letters lol.

Project Club - January 2015 ¤ Congratulations Bunting ¤

Nina Crafts project club.

I seem to be seeing lots of bunting about at the moment, it's all over the place so seeing that was my inspiration for this bunting.  I stamped all the hearts with Memento - Tuxedo Black and coloured them in using my ProMarkers.  Once coloured in I used the Uppercase Kissing Alphabet to add the letters, they where stamped using the black ink on the outline letter stamps, I then used the solid letter stamps with the Memento - Grape Jelly ink.  Once all the hearts where finished I used the Spellbinders - Classic Scalloped Heart dies to cut out some purple hearts, using my Crop-A-Dile to add the holes at each side.  I used a 3mm white satin ribbon to hang all the hearts onto, adding a little strip of red hi-tack tape to the back of each so the hearts didn't move about.
