Project Club - July 2012 » Ice cubes «

Originally this post was from the Dimension Stamps Project Club.  Now the name has change to Nina Crafts, so I thought putting all the posts together would be better and easier to find things.

I rather like the idea of putting fruit in ice cubes but I haven’t seen a tray that would work properly, and my freezer makes a fruit segment shape ice cubes so I’m nearly there, just no colour lol.

For the background on this card I used a Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder – So Trendy, and across the bottom I used a Nellie Snellen border die, and then just used a scoreboard to score two lines between the two.  I used a Spellbinders – Wonky Rectangle die for the background on the topper and stamped the ice cubes using Memento – Bahama Blue and second generation ink all around the edge.  Onto another piece of white card I stamped the three ice cubes using the Bahama Blue ink and then stamped the strawberries over the top of them using Memento – Tuxedo Black, I coloured the strawberries in using ProMarkers Forest Green and Ruby before attaching them to the card front.  The sentiment has been stamped using Memento – Nautical blue and to finish I covered the frosty part of the font and the ice cubes with Glossy Accents.
I did a little test area on another piece of card using the Ruby ProMarker and some Glossy Accents beforehand to make sure of the end colour of the red, it did lighten up quite a bit but I thought it worked well with the ice cube.  The colours did bleed a little, (I think because my bottle of Glossy Accents has a dodgy nozzle on it and it come gushing out, so I had far too much on them) but because its an ice cube I’m not overly worried about it, but next time I will try using VersaFine and detail clear embossing powder.
